Enhancing Network Infrastructure for a national pharmaceutical company.

Background:

A national specialty pharmacy headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Founded in 2011, it focuses on providing high-touch clinical services and specialty pharmaceuticals for a range of rare and chronic conditions, including transplant, Hepatitis C, oncology, cystic fibrosis, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, dermatologic conditions, and HIV.

Their mission is to empower individuals living with rare diseases by providing comprehensive care, treatment support, and outcomes-driven services. They are known for their patient-centered approach and high levels of patient satisfaction

Challenges:

Initially, the client wanted to repurpose 6-year-old switching, access points, and firewalls at the new Memphis facility. This posed significant risks, including potential downtime and security vulnerabilities. The predicted annual revenue for this location is close to $200 million, and any downtime could result in losses of up to $547K per day.

Solutions:

To address the challenges faced, we successfully implemented a range of new equipment and services. This included Aruba switches, Aruba access points, and installation.

Additionally, a new FortiGate Firewall was installed in Memphis prior to this project. The lead engineer played a pivotal role in the design, scope, and implementation, ensuring the project’s success.

Results:

By explaining the cost of downtime and the risks associated with using unsupported equipment, the client and their leadership were convinced to proceed with the new equipment. This not only ensured operational efficiency but also enhanced the security of the new pharmacy location.
